Curriculum and learning

A carefully planned environment can foster in children and adults a sense of:

  • support and control
  • safety and trust
  • independence and choice
  • stimulation and challenge

At Stonecroft, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which supports children's learning and development from birth to 5 years old.

We believe that every child is unique and has their own interests, strengths and needs.

That is why we adopt a child-led learning approach, where we observe, listen and respond to each child's voice and choices.

We also draw inspiration from the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which values children as active and creative learners, who can express themselves in many ways.

Our curriculum is based on natural and meaningful experiences, where children can explore, discover and create with a variety of materials and resources. We aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment, where children can grow in confidence, independence and curiosity.

We teach in 3 exciting ways:

  • by following children's curiosity
  • creating opportunities for play
  • by offering a rich environment for learning
