What is this course about?

This course targets adults looking to refresh their maths skills at Level 1 and Level 2, with the option to progress to a Functional Skills course.

Are there any entry requirements?

You must be 19 or older by August 31, 2024. An initial assessment in English and maths will be required.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

Yes

How will I be taught?

This course will be conducted onsite in a face-to-face setting, with occasional online attendance available if necessary. It includes input sessions, group tutorials, independent exercises, group tasks, and quizzes set by your tutor. You'll use MS Teams for Education to access class materials and BKSB online for assessments and maths resources.

What feedback will I get?

Throughout the course, your tutor will provide regular feedback as appropriate. At the course's end, you and your tutor will assess your progress. Verbal feedback will be given during sessions, and written feedback on paper exercises. You'll set individual learning goals with your tutor and track your progress by maintaining a folder of your work.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

You can discuss your learning with your tutor in individual meetings during tutorials. Your tutor will seek group feedback during sessions and course reviews. At the course's conclusion, you can provide formal feedback by completing an evaluation form. Additionally, you may participate in GLA and OFSTED surveys.

What course can I do next?

You will be encouraged to progress to a functional skills maths course, if appropriate.

While this course follows a workshop format, attending each topic is strongly encouraged to enhance your skills.
