When you need a prize permit
A prize gaming permit authorises the holder to provide gaming with prizes on specified premises.
It allows:
- low-level gaming
- small participation fees
- modest prizes
If you hold one of the following licences, under the Gambling Act 2005 you are authorised to offer prize gaming:
- holders of adult gaming centre premises licences
- holders of family entertainment centre premises licences
- holders of family entertainment centre gaming machine permits
- travelling fairs
- bingo halls
Apply
Please contact us for an application form.
To apply you must be:
- the person who occupies, or plans to occupy, the specified premises
- over 18 if you are applying as an individual
You cannot apply if you hold a:
- gambling premises licence
- club gaming permit
You will need to provide evidence:
- of the types of gaming you intend to offer
- of your understanding of the limits to stakes and prizes that are set out in regulations
- that the gaming offered is within the law
Fee
£300.
Permit renewal
Your permit will last 10 years. To renew your permit, you need to follow the same process as applying for a new one.
The renewal fee is £300.
