A bold festival of words right here in Tottenham.

The Bernie Grant Arts Centre’s Tottenham Literature Festival is back from Monday 11th November until Sunday 17th November!

Now in its sixth year, our brilliant festival returns with a joyous celebration of captivating stories by Black authors, poets, and artists from Tottenham and beyond.

Previous festivals have welcomed headliners such as: Bernadine Evaristo, Liv Little, Gary Younge, Dr. Ronx, Travis Alabanza, Lemn Sissay, Paterson Joseph, and more to the BGAC stage.

This year’s theme is “Black Imaginations”. Join us as we gather to discuss, dream, and explore how imagination powerfully transforms our stories and realities. We invite you to meditate on this quote by Walidah Imarisha: When we free our imaginations, we question everything. We recognize none of this is fixed, everything is stardust, and we have the strength to cast it however we will.

Our week-long programme includes:

  • Author Talks: Meet the brilliant minds behind your favourite books.
  • Spoken Word: Feel the power of live poetry.
  • Creative Writing Workshops: Get inspired and start writing.
  • Family Events: Fun for all ages.
  • Evening Events: Music, poetry, literature and discussions
  • Weekend Festival Day: A full day of incredible Black literature, music, visual art and more.

Special Announcement: We’re thrilled to announce our Artist in Residence for this year is the award-winning poet, Victoria Adukwei Bulley. Victoria will deliver a workshop and keynote on Saturday, 16 November, as part of the Main Festival Afternoon Pass.

We are also returning with our virtual masterclass with multi-award-winning YA author Danielle Jawando on Friday 15 November at 11am to 1pm, in partnership with Arvon. More details will be released soon. If you are interested in writing for young readers, register your interest here.

Tickets and Accessibility: With our ‘Pay What You Can’ model, tickets start at just £5. We also have a significant free programme including a book market and an exhibition.
