HIV tests and emergency treatment
If you think you have been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours (3 days), visit the nearest sexual health clinic as soon as you can, as some treatment options are time-sensitive.
Note: HIV tests might only detect HIV weeks or months after infection, so it's advisable to visit a clinic even if you've tested within 72 hours of any suspected exposure to HIV.
Get PEP (post-exposure HIV medication)
PEP, short for Post-Exposure Prophylaxis, is a treatment that can significantly reduce your chances of infection when started within 72 hours of being sexually exposed to HIV.
