You are responsible for ensuring that your property is effectively managed whilst you are renting to your tenants.
Property licensing
If you are renting a property as a house in multiple occupation (HMO), you have the following obligations:
- Property rented as an HMO in Haringey must have a property licence to be legally let
- Property in Haringey that is licensed as an HMO must adhere to:
If you are renting a property to a single person, 2 people or a single household (e.g. a family) within the selective licensing zone, you will also need a selective property licence. You must also adhere to the selective licensing conditions .
Nuisance and ASB
You are also responsible for ensuring your tenants do not cause a nuisance to neighbouring properties by taking action if you are notified of:
- noise nuisance
- anti-social behaviour (ASB)
- environmental ASB such as contaminated recycling, not putting refuse out for collection, fly-tipping, or harbourage in rear and front gardens
