Course Details

What is this course about?

 

 

This course is for anyone interested in beginning a career in supporting learners in primary and secondary school settings. This course is at Level 2 and you will be required to develop a portfolio of work to achieve the Level 2 NCFE Qualification.

The course will cover roles in schools, responsibilities and statutory requirements. You will be required to work independently at home as well as attend face to face weekly sessions.

 

Are there any entry requirements?

Yes, you will either need to 

• complete a Level 1 assessment

• or have a Level 1 qualification or above in reading / writing / speaking and listening

The class tutor may have an informal discussion with you to ensure this is the right class for you.  

 

 

 

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No, you will not need to have an interview before you enrol if you have a Level one English writing, reading and speaking and listening exam pass.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught either face to face in the classroom and via Teams for Education which you will be given access to. 

You will be taught using a range of methods including:

Whole class – teacher delivery or on MS Teams 

Independent assignments and homework

Small group work

Video, You Tube and other media

Quizzes and assessment

You will also be expected to complete assignments in class and via Teams for Education, creating and using a portfolio.

 

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course, you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will give you verbal feedback as a group during the session, and written feedback on activities and work that you do. 

You will decide individual learning goals with your tutor and see your progress over the term by keeping an online folder of work. 

 

 

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

You will be able to talk to your tutor in one-to-one meetings about your learning. Your tutor will ask for your feedback as a group at different times over the course and you will also contribute to the course review. You will be able to formally record your views on the course at the end by completing an evaluation form. You may also complete GLA & OFSTED surveys.

Other ways to give feedback include via your class representatives elected in class or through the online platform.

 

What course can I do next?

You can gain entry level employment in the sector, whilst also going on to a specialist Level 2 qualification in either Health Sector or Adult Social Care.

 

Additional information

It is very important for you to attend either your face to face or Teams for Education class regularly. If you are unable to attend a class, please notify your tutor. If you do not attend classes during the first week or fail to attend for three consecutive classes on the course without informing your tutor, you will lose your place of study.

Who is this course for?

You must be aged 19 or older by the 31st of August 2024, and be eligible for publicly funded  courses.
