Exploring GCSE Maths (Algebra) - Online

Course Details

What is this course about?

This online course will introduce learners to GCSE Maths (Algebra) content and will help learners develop basic algebra skills, for example, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division involving both constant as well as variables. It will also prepare learners who passed L2 to make progress towards bridging the gap between FS Level 2 and GCSE maths focussing on algebra.

Are there any entry requirements?

Aimed at learners who have completed a L1 or L2 FS maths course of study and want to develop algebra skills towards undertaking a GCSE course.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

Yes

How will I be taught?

You will attend online lessons each week and use MS Teams learning platform to access learning resources and homework. You will receive feedback on your homework and tutor will answer your questions during a lesson. You will complete assignments and quizzes sent to you via MS Teams for the tutor to measure your progress.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course, you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will give you verbal feedback as a group during the session, and written feedback on paper exercises you do.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

You will be able to talk to your tutor in one-to-one meetings about your learning during tutorials. Your tutor will ask for your feedback as a group at different times during the session and in course reviews. You will be able to formally record your views on the course at the end by completing an evaluation form. You may also complete GLA OFSTED surveys.

What course can I do next?

On completion of this course, you might be able to progress to GCSE course. Your tutor will be able to advise you.

Additional information

It is very important for you to attend online lessons regularly. If you are unable to attend an online lesson, please notify your tutor. If you do not come to classes during the first week or fail to attend for two consecutive classes without informing your tutor, you may lose your place of study.
