What is this course about?
This course is designed to help people overcome barriers to communication by learning a range of different spelling tools and techniques. The Level Up courses all contain embedded digital skills and tips to help boost self study and aid progress.
Are there any entry requirements?
You should complete an Initial Assessment demonstrating the ability to work at an overall Entry 3 or above level of English. Your diagnostic assessment should show a spelling need at Entry Level or level 1.
Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?
Yes. You will have a short online or on-site interview with a tutor.
How will I be taught?
The course will be blended learning so you will attend lessons on site at Wood Green Library 2nd Floor but you will also build your skills in online study with support from your tutor.
What feedback will I get?
You will get feedback from your tutor on your written and online work as well as feedback in the class. You will complete progress checks to assess your learning through the course and you will have a final tutorial at the end of the course to discuss your progress and next steps.
How will I be able to give my views on the course?
You will have a learner rep and you will be given opportunities to share your views in an end of course survey.
What course can I do next?
The next course will be Level Up – Grammar and Punctuation, but you may also be advised to take alternative courses according to your needs and goals.
Additional information
Although the course will have on-site sessions at Wood Green Library, a smartphone, tablet or laptop with a good internet connection is recommended for in between study or online sessions.
Who is this course for?
This course is for women aged 19 or older by the 31st of August 2024 who lack confidence in spelling and need to focus on this area before moving on to achieve a Functional skills qualification or undertake further communication tasks requiring accurate spelling.
