Becoming London Borough of Culture 2027
We want to share the story of Haringey, of our artists, our community and our history of innovation, creativity and activism.
We know that creativity and culture can increase wellbeing, help reduce inequalities and bring our communities together. Our London Borough of Culture year is a perfect opportunity to amplify so much of what already exists, as well as to create new opportunities for participation and engagement. Alongside planned flagship opening and closing events at Alexandra Palace and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a key objective is to ensure that everybody in the borough is able to take part and get involved.
The London Borough of Culture award is an opportunity for us to shout about who we are and what makes us so exceptional as a community.
Being London Borough of Culture in 2027 will give us time to embed our new Culture Strategy – which is set to be adopted by cabinet in 2024 – and to crystalise our ambitions to deliver a united and collaborative celebration of arts and culture across Haringey.
Our London Borough of Culture year, which will run from April 2027 until March 2028, also allows us to take advantage of the spotlight that will shine on the borough as we prepare to welcome football fans from across Europe and the world as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium serves as one of the host venues for UEFA Euro 2028.
