London Borough of Culture legacy
Our London Borough of Culture year will be so much more than big, flashy events. It will nurture grassroots participation, community engagement and rich cultural exchange that is felt first-hand by the people of our wonderfully diverse borough. London Borough of Culture 2027 is just the beginning, and not the end, of putting culture at the heart of everything we do.
Our programme will see us deliver sustained change, which will support Haringey’s cultural sector to thrive and grow in the years to come. Among other things, we want to:
- achieve greater visibility of our community groups in our culture offer, in positions of responsibility and in decision-making across culture
- see 100% of our cultural venues taking part in LBoC, using Arts Council England’s initiative ALL IN, improving the experience of D/deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent audiences
- set up a Culture Working Group combining our collective cultural knowledge and experience, making it an integral part of how we do culture
- ensure artists will continue to see Haringey as a viable place to live, work and thrive
- see more and better career opportunities within Haringey’s cultural sector
- become a flagship borough in supporting a young and diverse sector locally so young people and audiences see themselves at the forefront of shaping arts and culture activity in Haringey.
Funding for London Borough of Culture
As well as £1.3 million in funding from the GLA, winning the London Borough of Culture award unlocks many opportunities for further funding and inward investment.
Our approach to financial planning is to be realistic, whilst ambitious, taking into consideration the current and future financial climate and appetite for the arts and engagement in the borough.
