Our approach
Haringey is on a journey to embed culture and creativity across the council and weave it through everything it does.
We will soon be adopting a new Culture Strategy, following a process that has included deep and considered community consultation with schools and youth groups, 23 cultural groups, friends of library groups, the Haringey VCS Forum, community and culture networks. We established a Culture Strategy Working Group and hosted a Culture Summit with over 60 attendees from arts and community groups, also running an open, online cultural survey for Haringey residents.
In November 2023, we delivered the Haringey Feast at Alexandra Palace, supported by the Mayor of London’s Cultural Impact Award, bringing together over 2000 creatives, residents and cultural organisations for a spectacular free event. This work improved our understanding of how we might collaborate across our borough’s creative sector to bring together the entirety of the borough for a year of culture.
All of this has shaped our thinking and approach up until this point. There is still a huge amount to do, many people to speak to, and stories and ideas to hear, which we will begin to do in 2024.
