About your park

History

Downhills was a big Georgian house, built before 1728. In 1901, Tottenham Urban District Council bought the land and grounds.

Recreation ground and formal gardens

Downhills Park covers 12 hectares. It’s irregularly shaped and split into 2 distinct sections.

To the west lies the recreation ground. It’s used every weekend during the season for organised sport, and for informal kickabouts by children and adults throughout the year.

To the east lies the formal gardens. The elegance and sophistication of the early 19th century design remain. The ornamental Italian Gardens located at the heart of the park is a favourite for those wanting peace and quiet.
