Russell Park is a green space within the Noel Park Estate.

Facilities

Russell Park has:

  • a basketball court
  • a kiosk selling light refreshments and snacks 
  • an outdoor gym 
  • a picnic area 
  • a playground (currently closed for refurbishment)
  • toilets – in the kiosk  

Get involved

The park has a volunteer group called Friends of Russell Park who are a group of local residents. They help create a well-maintained and safe public park for local people.

Green Flag Award 

First awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award in 2010, the park has kept it ever since.

History

Russell Park used to be called Noel Park. It sits within the Noel Park Estate.  

Noel Park is one of the earliest garden suburbs in the world. It was designed to provide affordable housing to working class families who wanted to move out of the city in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
