We have implemented stringent and comprehensive measures for library users to access the area safely and securely.
Back in March, the council announced that the adults’ section would remain closed while works continued to address issues around the presence of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in a section of the roof.
Other parts of the library do not contain RAAC and are not impacted.
Recognising the need for the borough’s libraries to utilise as much public space as possible within their respective sites to benefit our residents and service users, council staff and their contracted partners have worked at sufficient speed to ensure a section of the affected area at Hornsey Library can now re-open.
Despite the partial re-opening of the adults’ section, there remains limited access to PCs at Hornsey Library.
These safety measures on-site remain a temporary solution while the council develops comprehensive plans for the removal of RAAC.
