Haringey has 36 historic parks and gardens. Alexandra Palace Park and Finsbury Park are on the National Register of Parks and Gardens of Historic Interest. The remainder are on the Register of Public Parks, Gardens, Squares, Cemeteries and Churchyards of Local Historic Interest.
The National Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest is maintained by Historic England. National registration does not entail extra legal controls (unlike listing of buildings or designation of conservation areas), but it does mean that special consideration is given to the landscape in the planning process.
The Register of Public Parks, Gardens, Squares, Cemeteries and Churchyards of Local Historic Interest was compiled by the London Historic Parks and Gardens Trust in 1996. A copy is held by Haringey's design and conservation team.
