First steps engagement for our new Local Plan

Formal consultation on the New Local Plan: First Steps ran from 16 November 2020 until 1 March 2021.

The new local plan first steps engagement document:

• set out the key issues to be addressed by the new local plan
• asked open questions about the issues and challenges facing the future planning of the borough
• sought views on options to address them

Alongside this, an Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) scoping report was also prepared for consultation. The IIA set out how we will assess the equalities, sustainability and health impacts of the new local plan.

What happens next

We will publish a consultation report for the first steps engagement alongside a draft local plan for further consultation – expected in late 2024.
