Find out about hazardous and clinical waste and how to book a collection.

Hazardous waste

Hazardous and clinical waste can harm people and the environment. It cannot go into your bins or recycling. A special collection must be booked.

The City of London deal with hazardous waste collections for businesses and residents.

Book a hazardous waste collection on the City of London Corporation website.

Some examples of hazardous waste are:

  • asbestos
  • batteries
  • clinical waste
  • chemicals, such as brake fluid or print toner
  • computer monitors
  • equipment containing ozone-depleting substances, like fridges
  • fluorescent tubes
  • industrial chemicals
  • oils (except edible ones), such as car oil
  • pesticides
  • solvents
  • paint (see information below on how to dispose of paint)

Paint is not included in collections. See paint guidance on the North London Waste Authority website for information on how to dispose of paint.
