Public rights of way

What public rights of way are, who can use the different public rights of way.

Public rights of way

We are the highway authority for all highways in Haringey (except for the Transport for London road network).

Most highways are roads with pavements, but there is a small but significant portion of paths that lead to open land, parks, greens or allotments. These paths are called public rights of way.

Public footpaths are for pedestrians only.

Public bridleways are for pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists.

Public byways are for pedestrians, horse riders, cyclists and motorised vehicles, depending on the layout of the way.
