Get involved in looking after your neighbourhood

Part of: Street cleaning

If you want to get involved in looking after your neighbourhood, we’d love to hear from you.

There are groups who look after parks and wildlife areas, and who pick up litter in their neighbourhood.

Haringey is full of residents who want to lead by example and create a borough we can all take pride in. The easiest thing you can do is put your litter in a bin, but let us know if you want to do more, and meet other people who care about their neighbourhood.

Leafing season is now upon us!

Our leafing buddies volunteering scheme allows residents to help us:

  • sweep up leaves during the autumn to clear routes
  • prevent flooding during heavy rain
  • keep pavements slip free

Fallen leaves are cleared as part of normal street sweeping. Extra street sweeping is done on streets where there are more trees, but standard sweeping happens mostly between mid-October and late December. Residents can contact Veolia Haringey if they have concerns about leaves on their road.

We will provide the following items free of charge:

  • broom
  • x2 packs of sacks
  • branded hi-visibility vest
  • protective gloves
  • shovel

Due to limited resources, please take care of your equipment to make sure there is no damage or loss. Please note that you will need to collect your equipment from the Veolia depot.
