Annual canvass

Our annual canvass to make sure the electoral register is up to date.

The Electoral Registration Officer conducts an Annual Canvass of all households in the borough each year to ensure the information on the electoral register is accurate and up to date.

Between July and November, every household will receive a letter or email asking the resident to:

  • remove any electors who no longer live at the property
  • include any new eligible residents at the address, including those aged 16 to 17 years old
  • make any corrections or changes needed to registered residents' details

All eligible residents must be included on the form.

Eligible residents are:

  • people who are aged 16 years or over (although they will not be able to vote until they are 18)
  • British, Irish or EU citizens
  • Commonwealth citizens who have leave to remain in the UK or who do not require leave to remain in the UK

Responding after receiving an email

We send emails throughout the canvas period to people we hold an email address for.

The sender of the email will be ‘Annual Canvass of Electors – Haringey Council’.

The email address will be 'annual.canvass.of.electors.haringey.council@notifications.service.gov.uk'.

This is an official email account that we use. If you update or confirm your details by email, you do not need to return your paper form.
