As an Air Quality Management Area, we must consider the design and location of new developments.
Air quality is a planning consideration and in some cases of new development an Air Quality Assessment is needed.
For all developments next to main roads where air pollution is a concern, consideration must be given to lower exposure to poor air quality.
See the following information for guidance:
- development and improving air quality, policy 7.14 of the London Plan, on the Greater London Authority website
- control of dust and emissions on the Greater London Authority website
- sustainable design and construction - supplementary planning guidance on the Greater London Authority website
Non-road mobile machinery low emission zone
We must enforce the requirements of the non-road mobile machinery low emission zone which sets out the emission limits for construction machinery.
See more information on Non-road mobile machinery low emission zone on the Greater London Authority website.
