Find out how much of Haringey is covered by trees.

The benefits of tree canopy cover

Tree canopy cover is the area covered by a tree, including its branches, leaves and stems. Benefits of tree canopy cover include:

  • purifying our air
  • lowering temperatures in built up areas
  • absorbing rainwater
  • creating wildlife habitats

Altogether we currently have an estimated 38,000 public trees in Haringey:

  • 12,500 street trees
  • 11,300 in parks
  • 8,000 on housing sites
  • 7,000 in woodlands, schools and other public sites

By 2030, we hope to have at least 50,000.
