The benefits of tree canopy cover
Tree canopy cover is the area covered by a tree, including its branches, leaves and stems. Benefits of tree canopy cover include:
- purifying our air
- lowering temperatures in built up areas
- absorbing rainwater
- creating wildlife habitats
Altogether we currently have an estimated 38,000 public trees in Haringey:
- 12,500 street trees
- 11,300 in parks
- 8,000 on housing sites
- 7,000 in woodlands, schools and other public sites
By 2030, we hope to have at least 50,000.
