South Asian Heritage Month events

Enjoy a fantastic programme of events for South Asian Heritage Month. From 18 July – 17 August there will be events happening across Haringey in libraries, arts venues, in cafes and lots more spaces across the borough.

These listings will be updated regularly, so do keep checking back for new events!

Please check with venues in advance of attending events in case of changes to listings or venue opening times.

2024

Below is a selection events that took place in  August 2024 at Haringey libraries, Duckett's Common and the Orange Cafe.

2023

  • Author event: Untold Tales
  • Broadway Brunch: Tea Party
  • Class: Indian Yoga (ages 10 to 16 yrs)
  • Crafts: Create an Indian Drum, Create an Indian Head Dress, inspired by the Wangdue Tschechu festival in Bhutan and Create an Owl Mask, inspired by Pohala Boishakh Festival in Bangladesh
  • Discussion: Asif Shakoor - South Asian Independent researcher of the South Asian Seafarers
  • Event: Henna Artist
  • Exhibition: Shakhsiyah School Asian Art
  • Films : Bend It Like Beckham (Cert. 12) and The Sixth Sense (cert. 13+)
  • Local Author Talk: Reema Jethwa: Empowering Young Digital Explorers
  • Music: George Partou performs a rendition of Kiakhosru Shapurji Sorabji’s music
  • Talk: South Asian History of Haringey
  • Workshops: Bollywood Dance and Kathak Dance (10+)
