Booking and access
The following terms and conditions apply to all users of the centre.
- To use the gym, group exercise class, pitches, courts, rooms, or any other facility or service, users are encouraged to pre book and pay online. If this is not possible please either telephone the centre or attend the centre in person. Note no cash is taken at the centre.
- Where the booking is for an outside pitch or court a member of staff will check payment has been made before entry is permitted
- An adult is someone deemed 16 years and above
- In instances of national emergency or local lock downs the Council has the right to close the centre without notice and/or limit usage as appropriate
People unable to book online
We appreciate that some of our users may not be able to book digitally or online. In such cases these users can call the centre on the centre’s telephone number and the booking and payment will be taken over the phone. Customers can also attend the centre and book and pay at reception.
No cash is taken at the centre.
Personal details
- Customers must supply their email address, mobile phone number and address before they join or use the centre.
- The Council will not pass details onto third parties.
- It is a customer's responsibility to update their personal details with the centre preferably doing so online.
Bookings and court hire
All visits/sessions must be pre-booked and paid for online or in respect of invoice payments, these must be made in advance to the Council as per the terms detailed on the invoice.
Bookings can be made up to 7 days before for members, 6 days before centre card holders and 5 days for non members/non card holders.
Paying for bookings
- Non-members and centre card holders must pay for their chosen activity at the time of booking or the booking will automatically be cancelled
- All non-member and centre card holder booked sessions are non-refundable or transferable so please ensure you can make the time slot you have booked before confirming your booking.
Booking times
The booking time covers the period of use including up to 5 minutes setting up and up to 5 minutes clearing away of facilities. To ensure that everyone has a chance to use the facilities there may be restrictions on the number of bookings each person is permitted to make for each day.
Conditions of use
- All hires and bookings are made subject to the Terms and Conditions of Use that may apply from time to time. These are available from reception, displayed at the Centre and are issued with any membership.
- If members rights are abused the membership may be terminated without notice. Membership is non-refundable.
Cancellation fees and non-attendance of bookings (applicable for members only)
- A 'no show' fee of the full pay as you go price of that activity will be applied to the members' account if they fail to attend a confirmed booking for gym or group exercise.
- A cancellation fee of the full pay as you go price of that activity will be applied to the members' account if a class booking is cancelled within 4 hours of the class starting.
- A cancellation fee of the full pay as you go price of that activity will be applied to the members' account if a gym booking is cancelled within 1 hour of the activity starting.
Gym conditions of use
- Clean down your kit before and after use
- Place any blue roll/tissue straight in the bin after use
- Use the hand sanitiser provided before entry to the gym
- Bring your own sweat towel (please do not use this to wipe down kit, use the tissue and sanitiser provided)
- Please ensure you arrive on time for your gym session to avoid congestion at reception. If your gym session starts at 10am please arrive at 10am
Studio conditions of use
- Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start of your class
- Use hand sanitiser before you enter the studio
- Ensure you wipe your kit down before and after use using the sanitiser spray provided
- Maintain social distancing throughout the class
- Please don't congregate outside of the studio before or after the class
- Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated throughout the class
- Bring your own sweat towel (please do not use this to wipe any equipment use the tissue and sanitiser provided)

Gym and group exercise
- The gym and group exercise membership allows access to the gym and group exercise classes (and the athletics track when available). This membership does not allow court bookings which would be chargeable at an extra cost.
- This membership allows 7 day advanced booking rights and online booking.
- A membership card will be issued which must be used to enter the centre on every visit.
- Members must have their photo taken for their membership file or provide photographic ID on every visit.
- The customer must be over the age of 16 years of age to hold a direct debit or annual membership.
Concession gym and group exercise
- The above membership is available at a reduced price for Haringey residents in receipt of benefits.

- All other terms and conditions are as per for the standard gym and group exercise membership.
Tennis membership
- The tennis membership allows access to both the indoor and outdoor tennis courts (and the athletics track when available). This membership does not allow access to the gym or group exercise classes which would be chargeable at an extra cost.
- This membership allows 7 day advanced booking rights and online booking.
- A membership card will be issued which must be used to enter the centre on every visit.
- Members must have their photo taken for their membership file or provide photographic ID on every visit.
- The customer must be over the age of 16 years of age to hold a direct debit or annual membership.
Tennis and gym membership
- The tennis and gym membership allows access to both the indoor and outdoor tennis courts together with access to the gym or group exercise classes (and the athletics track when available).
- This membership allows 7 day advanced booking rights and online booking.
- A membership card will be issued which must be used to enter the centre on every visit.
- Members must have their photo taken for their membership file or provide photographic ID on every visit.
- The customer must be over the age of 16 years of age to hold a direct debit or annual membership.
- A joint membership may be added to this membership which would allow two adults the same privileges as above.
Adult pay and play membership (including concessions) and Haringey 65+
- Adult pay and play members/centre cardholders must sign up
- This membership allows 6 day advanced booking rights and online booking.
- A centre card will be issued which must be used to enter the centre on every visit.
- Centre card holders/members must have their photo taken for their membership file or provide photographic ID on every visit.
- The customer must be over the age of 16 years of age to hold an adult centre card
- Haringey concessions and Haringey 65+ will need to provide proof of concession eligibility. More information on concession eligibility is available at www.haringey.gov.uk/newriver
Junior pay and play membership
- Junior pay and play members must be between the ages of 8 years and 15 years of age to join. Proof of eligibility may be required
- Junior pay and play members who wish to use the gym facilities must be between the ages of 11 years and 15 years only
- Under no circumstances will children 8 years to 10 years of age be allowed access to the gym facilities
- Junior pay and play members between the ages of 11 years and 15 years using the gym facilities must complete a pre-booked gym induction prior to their first visit to the gym. Consent from a legal guardian is required and the joining process must be completed by a legal guardian
- If children under the age of 11 years are using any of the facilities within the membership a parent must remain on site.
- Proof of the child´s date of birth will be required upon joining and if the child is eligible for the concession card, this proof will also be required, more information on concession eligibility is available at www.haringey.gov.uk/newriver
- Some activities and facilities may be age restricted.
- Up to 6 days advanced telephone booking or on-line booking
- A health questionnaire must be completed prior to undertaking exercise and signed on behalf of the child by a parent or guardian
- All Instructors hold a current enhanced DBS, under child protection guidelines and have completed safeguarding training.
- Children of parent/s (or the child’s legal guardian) who qualify for the New River Sport and Fitness Concession Scheme, can on proof of eligibility receive reduced prices for the gym and some other activities. More information is available at www.haringey.gov.uk/newriver
Annual memberships
- Annual memberships share the same terms and conditions as the relevant monthly direct debit membership.
- Exclusions to this are cancelation period. There is not one with annual memberships.
- Annual memberships receive a discount when joining or renewing meaning that the membership is non-refundable and non transferable.
- Any annual members effected by COVID-19 will have their renewal date extended by the time the centre was closed.
Freeze or cancelling your membership
- To amend, cancel or freeze your membership, please visit the centre, where a member of staff will be able to help you.
- All cancellations of memberships (excluding annual memberships that cannot be cancelled) require 1 full months calendar notice to coincide with your direct debit date (1st or 15th)
- A cancellation form will be required to be completed in centre, once your cancellation has been processed you will receive confirmation by email.
- The maximum freeze period per year is 6 months in total. The freeze is free. The freeze maybe applied for in relation to sickness and long term travel away from your place of residence.
- Freezes must be a full month (1st-31st or 15th-14th) to coincide with the direct debit.
- Freezes and Amendments must be given with 10 days notice from the date of the your direct debit date.
