In October 2022, we planted a Tiny Forest in White Hart Lane Recreation Ground. We did this in partnership with Earthwatch Europe.
Tiny Forests:
- have lots of trees in a small area – they're about the same size as a tennis court
- have trees that grow quickly and are native to the UK
- are grown without chemicals or fertilisers
- are easy to manage and maintain after the first 2 years
- are home to many different plants and animals
Volunteer opportunities
Get involved with our Tiny Forest by becoming a tree keeper or citizen scientist.
Tree keeper
As a tree keeper you can:
- help maintain the Tiny Forests – for example, by weeding and picking up litter
- find ways to involve and inspire people in your community
- take part in science activities – for example, counting butterflies and measuring trees
Earthwatch supports volunteers with tools, training and resources.
See the Earthwatch website for more information on being a tree keeper.
Citizen scientist
Citizen scientists gather information about Tiny Forests. Each year they take part in Earthwatch Europe’s Science Weeks:
- Biodiversity Week, which collects data on Tiny Forest wildlife
- Carbon Week, which measures the carbon stored by Tiny Forest trees
See the Earthwatch website for more information on being a citizen scientist.
