Tiny Forest volunteering

Part of: Volunteer in parks and greenspaces

In October 2022, we planted a Tiny Forest in White Hart Lane Recreation Ground. We did this in partnership with Earthwatch Europe.

Tiny Forests:

  • have lots of trees in a small area – they're about the same size as a tennis court
  • have trees that grow quickly and are native to the UK
  • are grown without chemicals or fertilisers
  • are easy to manage and maintain after the first 2 years
  • are home to many different plants and animals

Visit the Earthwatch website for more information on the Tiny Forest in White Hart Lane Recreation Ground

Volunteer opportunities

Get involved with our Tiny Forest by becoming a tree keeper or citizen scientist.

Tree keeper

As a tree keeper you can:

  • help maintain the Tiny Forests – for example, by weeding and picking up litter
  • find ways to involve and inspire people in your community
  • take part in science activities – for example, counting butterflies and measuring trees

Earthwatch supports volunteers with tools, training and resources.

See the Earthwatch website for more information on being a tree keeper

Citizen scientist

Citizen scientists gather information about Tiny Forests. Each year they take part in Earthwatch Europe’s Science Weeks:

  • Biodiversity Week, which collects data on Tiny Forest wildlife
  • Carbon Week, which measures the carbon stored by Tiny Forest trees

See the Earthwatch website for more information on being a citizen scientist
