Haringey families get some fun-tastic news

Young Haringey children and their families will continue to be enthralled by the excitement, joy and wonderment of fun fairs at Ducketts Common and Finsbury Park after the council provisionally agreed to a five-year deal with a long-standing provider of this provision.

Manning’s Amusements have hosted Easter and summer bank holiday fun fairs in Finsbury Park for four decades, while they brought back the fun fair to Ducketts Common five years ago now. They’ve also staged a fun fair at Bruce Castle Park for almost a century.

That long and proud history is set to continue too, with Ducketts Common set to hold a summer fair for approximately 10 days in June and July and Finsbury Park staging two events that will last for around 17 days in March and/or April and August respectively.

The three events will run from this year through to 2028, which is fantastic news for Haringey’s young children and their families.

Haringey Council’s Assistant Director - Direct Services, Mark Stevens, said:

Funfairs in Haringey parks and green open spaces have been entertaining the borough’s children and young families for many decades.

It’s therefore fantastic that – subject to the relevant approvals – we’re going to be keeping up this tradition in Ducketts Common and Finsbury Park for the next five years.

These small-scale, community-focused events are great places for children and their parents to socialise, relax and unwind as they enjoy the arcades, entertainment and fun rides on offer together.

This five-year agreement also ensures funfairs will have a regular presence in the borough through to 2027, when Haringey will proudly be the London Borough of Culture, and beyond.

It’s fundamentally important for our local heritage that we continue to maintain such historically significant pastimes and pursuits now and in the future.
