The pioneering project, launched in May this year, brings together the council and local community to collaborate on practical steps that can be taken to tackle the climate emergency.
The dedicated forum is open to all and gives individuals, community groups and businesses the opportunity to learn about the council's approach to tackling climate change, share their own ideas and projects and to develop joint solutions with the council for a low-carbon future. Whether you're concerned about green spaces, air quality, or simply want to contribute to making Haringey a more pleasant place to live, your input is invaluable.
The next partnership meeting takes place at Alexandra House, 10 Station Road, Wood Green, N22 7TR on Thursday 26 September 2024 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Cllr Mike Hakata, Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Environment and Transport, said:
It was a joy to see so many enthusiastic people join the inaugural meeting of the partnership and to hear about the inspiring action of the community to tackle climate change.
This important initiative brings together the council and local community to collaborate on the practical steps that can be taken to shape a fairer, greener future for the borough.
You can get involved by coming along to the next meeting where you will hear from the council and the community on the climate related work taking place in Haringey, as well as broader environmental initiatives that impact our daily lives. We look forward to collaborating with you.
The partnership grows out of Haringey's commitment to becoming a net zero carbon borough by 2041 and is part of the Haringey Deal - recognition that the council doesn’t have all the answers and needs to draw on the expertise, insights and energy in our communities. This collaborative approach aims to create a more sustainable and vibrant Haringey for all residents.
