Alexandra Palace’s iconic mast will turn blue and pink on Wednesday evening to signal the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week in Haringey.

As part of activities and events organised by the North and East London branch of the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity Sands, one of the borough’s most prominent landmarks will be lit up in the cause’s two colours in a show of solidarity and support as well as to help raise awareness.

On Sunday afternoon, there will also be a Baby Loss Awareness Walk along Parkland Walk to the Baby Loss Tree – a place of remembrance and comfort for anyone affected by pregnancy or baby loss.

This woodland walk is an opportunity for attendees to remember, reflect, be together and stand with each other while listening to music and short readings.

The event ties in well with the theme for this year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week ‘Together, we care,’ which is all about grieving parents and fellow family members finding time to care for themselves – and each other – as part of a community of people affected by all forms of pregnancy and baby loss.

If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a cherished loved one, why not meet at the Holmesdale Road entrance to Parkland Walk (N6 5TJ) at 3:30pm on Sunday afternoon? The walk will begin at 3:45pm and all are welcome to attend.

There are also ribbons displays behind the basketball courts at Priory Park in N8 and St Andrew’s Church in N10, with Punk Cake, The Good Reader (Olive Tree) (both in N8) and the Grove Café in Alexandra Park showcasing other/window displays as well.

Former Charlton Athletic, Chelsea and West Ham United defender Scott Minto and The Chase ace Shaun Wallace will be managing the respective teams on the day.
