Publishing your planning comments

Part of: How to view and comment on applications

All comments received (including petitions) form part of the public register of planning applications. This means your comments can be seen and copied by other people.

We only consider comments where the name and address of the person making the comments is given. Anonymous comments are not taken into account.

You should not include any personal information that you are not happy to have displayed online. Your name and address must be given, but other information such as your telephone number, email address or signature is not required.

We will not publish or include in reports any comments we receive about a planning application that we consider to be defamatory to another person. This is because publishing a defamatory statement may result in libel action.

Petitions

We suggest you include a statement on your petition letting those who sign it know that:

  • their information will be placed in the public domain
  • they should not include personal information about a third party (including family members)
