What you must provide

If you're applying as a homeowner for changes to your own home – where the property is a single dwelling which has not been subdivided into flats – you or your architect must provide:

  • the relevant application form
  • a location plan at a scale of 1:1250 with a red line around the site in question
  • a block plan:
    • at a scale of 1:500 or 1:200 showing the direction of 'north'
    • showing the proposed development in relation to the site boundaries
    • giving written dimensions
  • existing and proposed plans showing a scale bar and drawings showing at least 1 metric dimension for:
    • elevations
    • floor plans
    • roof plans
    • sections
  • the fee: £257.50

What you may have to provide

You may also have to provide:

  • a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) liable form – if your development is larger than 100sqm (gross internal area) of new development
  • a design and access statement – in a conservation area where the floor space created by the development is 100sqm or more
  • a heritage statement
  • a basement impact assessment for basement development
  • a flood risk assessment using Environment Agency standing advice – in flood zones 2 and 3
  • an archaeological assessment – within areas of archaeological potential
  • an arboricultural impact assessment and method statement for any development proposing tree works, including applications to alter tree with a tree preservation order or works to trees in a conservation area
