Statistics (measuring website usage)

We currently use Google Analytics to compile statistics about people who visit the Haringey Council website. Google Analytics uses JavaScript and cookies to monitor how people are using the site. The information typically collected is the IP address of the user (which is anonymised), which pages were visited and for how long, date and time of visit, browser type, search terms etc.

The information we get from Google Analytics helps us ensure this website is meeting users’ needs and to help us understand how we could do it better.

The following cookies are set by Google Analytics:

Google Analytics cookies

Cookie name What it does When it expires
_ga randomly generated number 2 years

We also use Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting which uses data from the Google Display Advertising Network. We use aggregate data provided by this service (such as age, gender and interests) to better understand our website audience and adjust our communications appropriately.

For further information on how Google Analytics collects and uses data see the Google Privacy Policy

We are also currently using Hotjar to track user behaviour across the website so we can identify problems and fix any issues.

If you consent to non-essential cookies then Hotjar cookies may be used. Any data collected by Hotjar is fully anonymised - with no information which can identify an individual captured.

CAN Digital Solutions Limited (Council Advertising Network) is responsible for delivering advertising on this website. Please take a moment to read the CAN Digital Solutions privacy policy which includes information on the use of tracking cookies and the storage and use of data collected by these, as well as how to opt out.

Note changing preferences here will not stop you seeing adverts - it just means they will not be targeted in any way (so potentially less relevant).

To disable adverts completely it is recommended that you use an ad-blocker on your browser/device.
