Get involved in the third Great Mental Health Day

The London borough where it all started will once again lead the capital’s Great Mental Health Day celebrations with a series of events and activities on Friday 26 January.

Organised by Haringey Council, with support from the NHS and local voluntary and community organisations, Great Mental Health Day this year highlights the importance of meaningful connections and highlights the power of relationships, collectivising, and social networks.

We will be getting everyone in Haringey talking about our mental health and wellbeing to help break that stigma that so often exists around the subject. It is an opportunity to share awareness of the local support services that are available. In Haringey, events range from specialist training, to webinars, and much more to allow people to connect with one another.

This year, our flagship expo for parents takes place on Friday 26 January at Tottenham Community Sports Centre and is hosted by paediatric registrars, with stallholders including Disco bikes, Cancer Alliance, Kooth, Gamcare, PAPYRUS, Young Minds, MH Partnership, Tottenham Talking, Roj Women, and Sewn Together.

The council aims to ensure that all residents know that help is out there should they need it, as well as taking a collaborative approach by working with schools, our diverse communities, and healthcare professionals.

Haringey’s Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care and Wellbeing, Cllr Lucia das Neves, said:

“Great Mental Health Day is chance for all of us to get involved with the brilliant mental health organisations and services our borough has to offer and focus on what good mental wellbeing means to us as individuals and communities.

“I'm so proud to see how far Great Mental Health Day has come since it originated in Haringey two years ago. I hope all our residents feel able to join in, and also learn more about how we can support anyone finding they need help their mental health. Please remember, help is out there. Great Mental Health Day is also a good prompt for us to check in with people we know and open up the opportunity to talk and connect.”
