Following a meeting with local businesses and residents back in May, it was agreed that an intervention was needed to effectively address and tackle any ongoing issues that are proving a cause for concern.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) as well as alcohol dependency and substance misuse on street corners have become significant issues of late according to the feedback received from local businesses and residents at the meeting back in May.

A request was also made for businesses’ licences on Philip Lane to be checked during the Day of Action to ensure compliance.

Activities will include joint patrols by the police and the council’s ASB and waste enforcement teams.

The Day of Action will involve key services across the borough, including – among others – the council’s ASB, Highways, Home Improvement, Homelessness Outreach, Litter and Waste, Parks and Regulatory Services teams, as well as Bringing Unity Back Into The Community (BUBIC), Connected Communities, Haringey Community Gold and other services such as Community Payback.

There will also be a Central Hub at 3 Mount Pleasant Road* (*at the junction with Philip Lane) between 1pm and 3pm tomorrow afternoon, giving opportunities for residents to discuss any issues or concerns they have with our ASB, Enforcement and Town Centre Management teams. The Central Hub will be located next door to the pizza restaurant Luna D’amore (178 Philip Lane, Tottenham, N15 4JW).

This Day of Action is a truncated version – or a short, sharp intervention – of the more regular Weeks of Action that take place on a bi-monthly basis, with each one targeting a different area of Haringey.

Previous Weeks of Action have taken place in Bruce Grove, Crouch End, Hermitage and Gardens, Highgate, Hornsey, Muswell Hill, Northumberland Park, South Tottenham, Stroud Green, Tottenham Hale, Turnpike Lane and Wood Green.
