Selected as one of only three local councils, Haringey Council will take part in a yearlong Resettlement Support Team pilot, an initiative commissioned by London Councils and the Greater London Authority (GLA) and delivered by Thames Reach, to enhance move-on support for residents at Mulberry Heights.
Mulberry Heights, delivered by De Paul, is a key supported housing service within the borough. Through this pilot, the project will receive additional support from a specialised Resettlement Support Team, which will collaborate closely with existing staff.
This expert team will bring fresh perspectives and targeted resources, aiming to help residents transition more efficiently to permanent housing solutions.
In addition to this, they are expected to reassess cases and provide dedicated move-on assistance, ultimately improving outcomes for our residents and freeing up hostel spaces for new arrivals.
This innovative approach aligns with the council’s commitment to adopt forward-thinking solutions and address rough sleeping.
Cllr Sarah Williams, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, said:
This pilot scheme is another fantastic step forward and testament to our dedication to improving the lives of those in need in Haringey.
Throughout this pilot, we anticipate significant improvements in the move-on process, benefiting both current residents and those awaiting support.
We know ending rough sleeping requires more than just the efforts of a single organisation. With a team of dedicated experts on this journey with us, we can make a big difference. Through hard work, commitment and collaboration, we can provide people with a platform to rebuild their lives.
Haringey Council was chosen for this pilot based on the stability and high-support nature of our hostel services, as well as our dedication to finding innovative solutions to housing challenges. This initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to improving housing outcomes for vulnerable individuals in the community.
