Hosted by Bibi Khan MBE and Reverend Nims Obunge OBE, the evening featured contributions from the Peace Alliance UK youth group, with Muslim and Jewish community members sharing their experiences and concerns.
Cllr Ahmet participated in a panel discussion alongside faith leaders, a Met police representative, and a local resident, emphasising the need for greater collaboration between communities, police, and local authorities to tackle these complex issues.
The discussions highlighted the importance of partnerships in addressing shared challenges and enhancing community safety.
Sir Mark Rowley outlined the Met’s efforts to keep communities safe, including increased outreach and engagement, with thousands of visits to religious venues across London to offer reassurance and address concerns.
The event was seen as a positive step towards fostering dialogue and building stronger relationships between communities and the police, but attendees agreed that ongoing efforts are essential.
The message was clear: creating a safer environment requires everyone to work together.
