Resident qualification

Part of: Visitor parking permits

You might need to fill in a resident qualification to buy visitor permits. A resident qualification lets us know you’re a Haringey resident. 

Who should fill in a resident qualification 

You only need fill in a resident qualification if you want to buy visitor permits (including concessionary permits) and do not have one of the following: 

  • resident's parking permit 
  • event day-only permit 
  • carer’s permit 
  • care at home permit
  • resident Blue Badge holder permit 

Cost  

A resident qualification is free. 

What you need 

We’ll try to confirm that you live in Haringey through our council tax records and voting register.   

If this fails, you must upload or post one of these proofs of your address: 

  • signed Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreement 
  • letter from HM revenue signed and recently dated 
  • letter from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) signed and recently dated 
  • signed Housing Association or Council Tenancy Agreement 
  • driving licence photo identity card showing your CPZ address 
  • letter of completion from your solicitor confirming your address is where you live 
  • your Council Tax reference number – this is shown on your bill or in your online My Account  

How to apply 

  1. Log in to your parking account or set up an online parking account. If setting up a new account, select ‘Resident’ as your ‘Customer type’. If you already have a non-resident account, you must set up a new account as a resident. 
  2. Under ‘Your permits’ click ‘See permits you can apply for (not visitor permits)’.  
  3. Click ‘Apply’ for ‘Resident qualification for visitor permits’.  
  4. Agree to the terms and conditions.   
  5. If requested, upload or post your proof document or enter your Council Tax number. 
  6. Click ‘Apply’.

After applying 

Processing your application takes up to 5 days. While waiting for approval, you can buy up to 10 visitor permits so your visitors can park in your CPZ.

You'll get an email letting you know if your application's approved. If your qualification is not approved, we’ll let you know why and if we need more information.

Renew your resident qualification 

Your resident qualification lasts for 1 year. 

You’ll receive an email 5 weeks before your resident qualification runs out, letting you know you need to renew. 

To renew your resident qualification: 

  1. Log in to your online parking account.
  2. Under ‘Your permits’ click ‘View your permits’.  
  3. Click ‘Renew’ for ‘Resident qualification for visitor permits’.  
  4. Confirm your details.  
  5. Leave the renewal start date as it is. Your new qualification will start when your current one ends.  
  6. If requested, upload or post your proof document or enter your Council Tax number.
