We let people know about School Streets by:
- putting up signs in and around School Streets
- informing the public in different ways
School Street signs
We install 2 'pedestrian and cycle zone' signs at the entrance point of a School Street.
This is more than the national requirement to install a single sign at each School Street entrance.
The signs show the:
- operating hours of the School Street
- permit ID for vehicles that are exempt from the School Street – find out how to apply for an exemption
The signs can fold so they’re only visible during the School Street’s operating hours.
This is an example of a folding School Street sign:
Other types of sign around School Streets include:
- advance warning signs
- camera-enforcement warning signs
