Have your say about School Streets

Part of: School Streets

Our School Street plan sets out our ambition for the majority of schools in Haringey to have a School Street by 2026.

Proposed School Streets

We are currently carrying out informal consultation on the following proposed School Streets.

SS48 Bounds Green Infant School and Bounds Green Junior School

SS50 Coldfall Primary School (Everington Road entrance)

SS54 Welbourne School (Stainby Road entrance)

Consultation materials have been sent to stakeholders, residents and businesses in the vicinity of the proposed School Streets.

The easiest way to have you say on the proposals is by completing this short online questionnaire:

The deadline to submit your comments is Friday 23 August 2024.

Once the consultation has closed, we will review all feedback received and take a decision on how to proceed. This decision is expected in September 2024. If the School Street is approved, we will carry out statutory (traffic order) consultation in the autumn and, subject to consultation and a final decision, would expect to implement the School Street in Spring 2025.

Approval of School Streets

In December 2022, we carried out an informal consultation on the initial design of new School Streets.

The results of the informal consultation were considered by the Director of Environment and Resident Experience, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Environment and Transport. A decision was taken to progress most of the proposed School Streets.

You can read the decision to implement these School Streets.

A statutory consultation was carried out in November and December 2023 for these School Streets. The results of the statutory consultation were considered by Cabinet on 7 February 2024.

You can read the February 2024 Cabinet decision agenda item and documents.

These School Streets have now been approved and were implemented on 15 and 16 April 2024.

School Streets under consideration

Following extensive engagement as part of the Adaptive Wood Green project, Cabinet considered the statutory consultation results and approved School Streets at Noel Park Primary (SS33) and St Paul’s Catholic Primary (SS31), which were launched in January 2024.

Cabinet agreed that the proposed School Street for Alexandra Primary and Heartlands High School (SS32) would be paused, pending further investigation.

St Francis de Sales RC Infant and Junior Schools (SS15)

An informal consultation was carried out in early 2023. The results of that consultation are pending a decision, which is expected in early 2024 by the Director of Environment and Resident Experience, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Environment and Transport.
