Having undergone a major refurbishment since 9 February last year, the on-site improvements library users will undoubtedly notice as they take in this newly-refurbished and renovated community asset and hub include:
- A new lift and accessible toilet
- Bespoke lighting and new furniture
- Interior redecoration
- Reconfigured floorplan
The upgrades at Highgate Library are all part of Haringey Council’s major investment programme, which – over a four-year period – has been investing over £4.9 million in libraries across the borough.
Highgate Library’s re-opening follows on from similar, recent projects at Alexandra Park Library, Coombes Croft Library, Hornsey Library and Stroud Green & Harringay Library.
Muswell Hill Library remains closed while refurbishments take place there and is scheduled to reopen later in the year.
Haringey Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Communities and Culture, Cllr Emily Arkell, said:
We have sent out a clear message that we will not be closing any of our libraries as we value them just as much as our residents do.
We have invested millions of pounds in our libraries at Alexandra Park, Highgate, Hornsey and Muswell Hill in recent years so that they are fit for the future and can flourish and thrive in the months and years to come.
At a time when other local authorities are closing their libraries, we’re improving ours and re-opening them.
