Easter fun continues in Haringey libraries

As we've reached the second week of the Easter holidays here in Haringey, here’s the lowdown of all the fun-filled and predominantly free activities happening in our libraries across the borough for children and young people this week and beyond!

Alexandra Park Library:

Monday 22 April (10:30am – 11am): Stephen Lawrence Day Storytime. Suitable for children aged 4+

Wednesdays (1pm – 2pm): Sensory Play: A playtime using sensory toys, including singing, provided by West Children’s Centre team. At the end of each session, there will be time for one-on-one advice regarding breastfeeding and introduction to solid foods. Suitable for ages 0 – 18 months

Thursdays (10:30am – 11am): Movers and Shakers – Music and Movement for 0-3s.* (*These classes are provided by Movers and Shakers – each class costs £7 and tickets must be purchased in advance via Happity)

Coombes Croft Library:

Saturday 13 April (3pm): Parthenon – A Gaiecon Presentation – Piano Recital-Talk by George Partou.

Tuesday 16 April and Tuesday 30 April (3:30pm – 4:30pm): Chatter Books – Come along and talk about any books of your choice – your likes and dislikes! Ages: 8 – 12.

Tuesday 23 April (4pm – 5pm): Reading Hour to celebrate World Book Night – read any book of your choice and pick up a free copy of one of the recommended books

Fridays (3:30pm – 4:30pm): Board and Card Games: Come along and play board games you know and love and learn new ones! Ages 5 – 11

Highgate Library:

Wednesday 10 April (3:30pm – 4:30pm): Decorate your Eid Lantern Craft – Mark the conclusion of Ramadan by decorating your Eid lantern with beautiful colours. Ages: 4+

Tuesday 16 April (3:30pm – 4:30pm); Spring Bird Craft – Create your own colourful spring bird. Ages: 4+

Tuesday 23 April (3:30pm – 4:30pm) Dragon and Knight Craft – Come down and make your own dragon or knight to celebrate St George’s Day. Ages: 4+.

Hornsey Library:

Wednesday 10 April (2pm – 3pm): Eid Lantern-Making Craft – Celebrate the start of Eid-Al-Fitr with us and have fun by making a beautiful lantern that you can take home. Ages: 4+

Wednesday 10 April and Wednesday 24 April (10:30am – 12:30pm): Coffee and Computers – Coffee and Computers’ digital skills workshops help you to get to grips with the online world and build confidence with using smartphones, tablets and computers – please bring your device along to the sessions. Monday 22 April (3:30pm – 4:30pm): Seder Plate Craft for Passover – During the holiday of Passover, celebrants will be enjoying the symbolism of the Seder meal. Celebrate with us and have fun making your own craft Seder plate, which you can take home with you. Ages: 3+

Tuesday 23 April (10:30am – 11am): St George’s Day Storytime – Join our special dragon story time session, which encourages active listening and participation through tales and songs. Ages: 1 – 5.

Tuesday 23 April (3:30pm – 4:30pm): St George’s Dragon Making Craft – Celebrate St George’s Day with us by making your own beautiful dragon, have fun with it and take it home. Ages: 3+

Wednesday 24 April (3:30pm – 4:30pm): Shakespeare Bookmark Craft – Celebrate William Shakespeare’s birthday with us by making some fun Bard-inspired bookmarks to take home.

St Ann’s Library:

Saturday 27 April (10:30am – 11:30am): Breathe Move Dance Create - Creative wellness class for women and children. Ditch anxiety - dance with peace - enjoy a guided hour of creative release!
All helping to support mental health and physical well-being. Art materials included. Price per session: £10 per adult, £5 per child. No creche facilities available. Suitable for ages 4+.

Stroud Green & Harringay Library:

Wednesday 10 April (2:30pm – 3:30pm): Easter Comic Crafts – Try drawing some cartoon animals or people using simple shapes. It’s all just for fun, with easy-to-follow examples demonstrated by library staff. Wednesday’s sessions will involve circles, ovals and curves.

Saturday 20 April (12:30pm – 2:30pm): Comics Club – We have a selection of comics, graphic novels and comic annuals for you to read while you are at the library or you can bring your own along to read while you’re there at our fortnightly Comics Club! Suitable for ages 7 – 11.

Wood Green Library:

Thursday 11 April (5pm): Around the World Film Festival – South Korea ‘A Tale of Two Sisters’ (2003, 15, 114 minutes)

Sunday 14 April & Sunday 28 April (1pm – 3pm) & Saturday 20 April (1pm – 3pm): Chess Club – All levels and ages welcome. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to play – we’ll teach you!

Thursday 18 April (5pm): Around the World Film Festival – Turkey ‘Kuma’ (2012, 12A, 93 minutes)

Monday 22 April (6pm – 7pm): Earth Day presentation from the Muswell Hill branch of Friends of the Earth

Thursday 25 April (5pm): Around the World Film Festival – Poland ‘The Illumination’ (1973, 15, 91 minutes)
