The council beat off stiff competition to be named winners of the Delivering Better Outcomes category at the MJ Awards 2024.
The coveted prize recognises how council teams have made a real difference to the lives of their residents through innovation.
It follows victory last year in the Inside Housing Development Awards for ‘Best Development Team – Urban’ and the Affordable Housing Awards for ‘Homebuilder of the Year’.
Work is already completed or started on more than 2,000 high-quality council rent homes as part of the council’s programme.
All schemes are built with sustainability at their heart to tackle the climate emergency and deliver improvements the whole community can enjoy.
Robbie Erbmann, Assistant Director for Housing at Haringey Council, said:
This is fantastic news. It’s great to know that our efforts to deliver 3,000 high-quality, energy efficient, genuinely affordable homes is being recognised at the highest level.
Our programme is delivering the first new council homes in a generation and offering people a real chance to put down roots in the community.
We are really pleased that the housing delivery programme has been recognised for putting our residents at the centre of everything we do – whether it’s delivering the bespoke designed homes for people with specific and complex needs or the family sized homes that we know are badly needed.
At the same awards, the council’s Regeneration Team was highly commended in the Community Engagement category for Tottenham Voices - a collaboration between the community, council and partners to develop priorities for shaping Tottenham’s future.
Haringey’s hat trick of nominations was completed by the Smarter Travel Team who contested the Best Transport Decarbonisation Project category for its trailblazing project encouraging children to walk, wheel and cycle to school.
The winners of the MJ Awards were announced on Friday 21 June 2024 at a ceremony in London.
