Presented by Haringey Libraries in collaboration with ‘Ally Pally’ and the Phoenix Pub, La Feria Family and Culture celebrates the rich heritage of the Latino community and promises to be an engaging, inclusive and joyful experience for all ages.
Attendees to this free event at the Beach Area of the park will be able to dance the afternoon away to classic and contemporary hits, with an exciting line-up of diverse musical performances showcasing the heart and soul of Latino culture on stage.
They will also get to learn how to salsa with guided lessons that are suitable for people of all abilities and skill levels.
With all that dancing going on, festival goers will have no doubt built up something of an appetite and the Food Zone will allow them all to indulge in a wide variety of authentic and delicious dishes from different Latin American countries.
There shall be live cooking demonstrations too at the Food Zone, allowing revellers to taste samples of traditional Latino foods.
Community engagement booths will allow Haringey residents and visitors to the borough to learn and connect while discovering the rich culture and history – as well as the contributions – of the Latino community.
There will be opportunities for story telling there, with people being encouraged to share their own stories and experiences and/or listen to those of others.
Networking spaces shall be on-site as well for those who wish to connect with community organisations and services that celebrate and support the Latino culture and people.
Billed as ‘more than just a festival,’ it is hoped La Feria Family and Culture bridges generational gaps, combats isolation and fosters a sense of belonging within the Latino community.
By bringing people from different age groups and diverse backgrounds together, this event aims to strengthen community bonds and celebrate the vitality of Latino culture.
It is also hoped that a lasting legacy can be created by establishing La Feria Family and Culture as an annual event.
This event is supported by central government and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
