Haringey and Islington Councils joined forces with grassroots organisation Streets Kitchen to host Streets Fest in Finsbury Park.
The annual event is designed to provide essential support for people experiencing homelessness in both boroughs.
Held in the heart of the park, the festival brought together a diverse range of support services in a single, accessible location. Attendees were able to access housing support, drug and alcohol advice, education and training opportunities, vaccination information, health checks/support, employment services, and women’s specific services, all in a festival-themed setting.
In addition to providing direct help to individuals, Streets Fest also facilitated connections between volunteers, caseworkers, and service providers, helping to strengthen collaboration across both boroughs.
Cllr Lucia das Neves, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care & Wellbeing, said:
People experiencing homelessness often face significant health challenges, and through inclusive initiatives like Streets Fest, we are working to address that collectively.
We know how important it is for everyone to have access to health services, and by holding events like this outdoors, we can reach more people in a way that is both accessible and welcoming. A big thank you to all those who have been involved in making this event possible.
Cllr Sarah Williams, Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning and Deputy Leader of the council, said:
Streets Fest is a vital lifeline for some of our most vulnerable residents, and it showcases the power of community and collaboration.
It was inspiring to see people from all walks of life come together in support of our community.
Housing is a basic human right, and here in Haringey, we're dedicated to ensuring that everyone in our borough has a home that is safe, secure, and comfortable. We want to make easier for those who need help to find it and create lasting connections that will support them on their journey out of homelessness.
Events like this reflect the council’s commitment to working with partner agencies and individuals who have experienced homelessness. In turn this will enable them to continue their efforts to end rough sleeping in Haringey.
