During out of hours, we only take calls that are emergencies, such as concerns about the safety of a child or adult.
Out of office hours are as follows:
- 5pm to 9am on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- 5pm to 10am on Tuesdays
- all day on weekends and bank holidays
If your enquiry is an emergency you can contact the out of hours line on 020 8489 0000.
If your call is not considered an emergency, you will be asked to go online or contact us again during normal office hours.

The following types of emergency calls are taken and passed onto a duty officer during out of hours:
- children's social care emergencies
- adults social care emergencies
- homelessness (emergency accommodation)
- emergency repairs to council owned properties
- tree emergencies
- highways emergencies
- noise nuisance – this service is only available Thursday to Sunday, 6pm to 2am
- urgent death certificates
- media requesting a council spokesperson
- dangerous structures
- major emergencies
