Circumstances where your petition may be rejected

Circumstances where we will not accept your petition.

We will not accept petitions which are considered to be:

  • vexatious (lacking sufficient grounds and serving only to annoy or harass)
  • abusive
  • otherwise inappropriate
  • linked to a legal issue
  • linked to a planning or licensing application

We also reserve the right to reject petitions that are raising a similar issue as a petition that has been submitted to the council in the past 6 months. We will explain the reasons for this in our acknowledgement of the petition. The Monitoring Officer will make the final ruling on this.
