After applying for a dedicated disabled parking bay

Part of: Dedicated disabled parking bay

We check your application to see if you’re eligible.

We respond within 10 working days of getting your email or letter. If we have your email address, we respond by email. If not, we send you a letter.

If you are not automatically eligible and need to be assessed by a certified expert assessor, the application process can take about 6 weeks.

If you are automatically eligible, one of our engineers will visit the area to see if there’s a good location for the bay. This will take about 10 days.

We will write to you with our decision.

Appeal our decision

If we turn down your application for a disabled bay, you can ask us to review the decision.

You must ask us for the review within 30 days following the date on the decision letter or email.

There are 2 reasons you can appeal our decision:

  1. You believe you meet the eligibility criteria listed on this web page.
  2. You believe our decision was made following a mobility assessment that was not carried out in accordance with our policy and procedures.

If you appeal by reason 2 and your appeal is unsuccessful, you can apply again after 3 months. This allows for a change in your condition which may make you eligible.

Installing the bay

We must follow the legal, statutory consultation process. We advertise the proposal to install the bay in the press and on street notices. This gives 21 days for anyone to raise concerns or objections. We consider all objections before installing the bay.

Installing the bay will take at least 3 months. If there’s a lot of demand, it can take up to 6 months.
